Online students receive a PC transcription foot pedal and WavPlayer software for the purpose of listening/transcribing course material.

Copyrighted online text and graphic instructional materials will include:

  • Medical Word Building: Students learn Latin and Greek prefixes, suffixes, and root words to help build thousands of medical terms.
  • Abbreviations, Medical Plurals, How to Look Up Words, Word Differentiation and Formatting: Hundreds of exercises focusing on the important transcription basics.
  • Focus on Medical Specialties: Students read and study hundreds of medical reports broken down by specialty.
  • Perfect the Text: Editing and Proofreading: This includes dozens of exercises to sharpen the senses when editing and proofreading.
  • Tests and Automatic Answer Keys: Students test themselves every step of the way to make sure they are learning everything necessary to become a quality medical transcriptionist.
  • Beginning Transcription Key: Experience is the most important thing the student can have. The student will transcribe more than 250 actual physician dictated medical reports with an emphasis on clinic notes and beginner level dictation.
  • Intermediate and Advanced Transcription Keys: The student will transcribe over 350 actual medical reports including radiology, pathology, emergency room, physical therapy, operative, history and physical examination, and discharge summary reports in all different specialties--including pulmonology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, orthopedics, cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology, neurology, and more.
  • Integrated Medical Terminology Pronunciation: The student can become familiar with new words by sight and sound.

There is a twelve-month initial enrollment period for the course. However, because the course is self-paced, it can be completed in as little as four to six months. The course has a total of nine sessions and takes approximately 640 clock hours. Extensions are available in four-month increments at additional cost.

Graduation
Upon successful completion of the LearnTranscription.com, Inc. course, graduates will be awarded a Certificate of Graduation. Graduation requirements for the course are as follows:

1. Students must complete the entire course, including all work assignments, chapter tests, specialty assignments, and transcription of all beginning, intermediate, and advanced dictated reports.

2. Students must pass the two-part final exam, consisting of an objective exam and a transcription exam, with a score of no less than 85% on each part of the exam. The objective exam tests competency in grammar, medical terminology, anatomy, abbreviations, proofreading, etc. The transcription exam tests the student’s ability to correctly transcribe operative, discharge, radiology, and other types of reports.

3. Students must sign a statement attesting to the fact that all work completed on the course (including the final exam) is their own.

Cost
The total cost of the course, including books, foot pedal, tuition, registration, and full support, for students paying in full or those using our four-payment plan is $2,365. Payment options include:
  • Payment of $2,365 in full; or
  • Four interest-free payments of $591.25 over four months
For students wishing to make smaller monthly payments:
  • Down payment of $999 and payments of just $257.50 a month for 6 months, totaling $2,544
Shipping and handling of course materials is included. A non-refundable $25.00 application fee is included in all course prices.

LearnTranscription.com, Inc. currently accepts payment via check, money order, or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, and American Express). Returned check fee is $18.00.
